Closed Fibroid Surgery

Closed fibroid surgery is a fibroid removal operation performed laparoscopically or robotically through small holes without opening a large incision in the abdomen.

What is Closed Fibroid Surgery?

Closed fibroid surgery is a fibroid removal operation performed using a camera and surgical instruments through small 5-10 mm incisions instead of the large abdominal incision used in traditional open surgery. It is performed using laparoscopic or robotic surgical techniques.

Assoc. Prof. Erkan Elçi has extensive experience in closed fibroid surgery and offers patients treatment with minimally invasive methods.

Advantages of Closed Surgery

Advantages of closed fibroid surgery compared to open surgery:

- Smaller incisions (5-10 mm)

  • Significantly less pain

  • Less blood loss

  • Short hospital stay (1-2 days)

  • Fast recovery (return to work within 1-2 weeks)

  • Low risk of infection

  • Less adhesion formation

  • Good cosmetic results

  • Surgery Process

Closed fibroid surgery is performed under general anesthesia. A camera and surgical instruments are placed through trocars inserted in the abdominal area. The fibroid is carefully separated from the uterine wall and removed. The uterine wall is sutured in layers.

Surgery duration varies from 1-3 hours depending on the size and number of fibroids. Usually 1 night in the hospital is sufficient.
