Genital Warts (Condyloma)

Genital warts (condyloma) are skin and mucosa lesions caused by low-risk HPV types (types 6 and 11).

What are Genital Warts?

Genital warts (condylomata acuminata) are benign lesions caused primarily by HPV types 6 and 11. They are sexually transmitted and form wart-like growths in the genital area.

They can be seen in both women and men. Spontaneous regression is possible but treatment is usually needed.

- Topical treatments: Imiquimod cream, podophyllotoxin

  • Cryotherapy: Freezing with liquid nitrogen

  • Electrocautery: Burning with electrical energy
