LSIL is a cytological finding indicating low-grade cell changes in the cervix.

What is LSIL?

LSIL (Low-grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesion) refers to low-grade cell changes detected in smear tests. They are usually temporary changes caused by HPV infection.

The vast majority of LSIL cases resolve on their own within 1-2 years. However, regular follow-up is necessary.

- Follow-up: Repeat smear test after 6-12 months

  • Colposcopy: Detailed examination if deemed necessary

  • HPV test: Investigation of high-risk HPV types

  • Treatment: LEEP or cryotherapy in persistent cases

    Is LSIL dangerous?+
    It is generally not dangerous and most cases resolve on their own. However, the risk of progression to HSIL should be monitored with regular follow-up.
